A quick note before I head over to Blazers practice.
Today, NBA Commissioner David Stern hosted a "season tip off" press conference with the national media, which began at noon and streamed live on NBA.com. After an opening statement in which Stern noted the exciting NBA Finals, the tremendous interest surrounding the free agency period, Team USA's success in the FIBA World Championships, the growth of NBA TV and the continued rise of young stars like Kevin Durant and Derrick Rose, the call was opened up to questions from the media.
The first question turned out to be a prank call, which made reference to a "controversy" at Portland radio station KUFO involving an injury and Greg Oden's genitalia. Commissioner Stern was asked if he had a response to the controversy, and he replied, "I must say, I don't."
The call was then quickly cut off before resuming after a brief delay.
