Gameday Open Thread: Sonics vs. Blazers

We will put on a good show for national TV, right?  We're going to win this game, right?  If not, somebody might have to hold me in the "spooning" position.

As Engineer Scotty pointed out in a diary and Oregonlive referenced on their site, David Aldridge is reporting that the Blazers are sending Taurean Green to the Nuggets for shooting guard Von Wafer. Of more immediate news, Aldridge is also reporting that the rumored three-way deal between Cleveland, Chicago, and Seattle is going down. The Bulls get Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden, the Cavs get Ben Wallace, Joe Smith, Wally Szczerbiak, and Delonte West, and the Sonics get Ira Newble, Donyell Marshall, and Adrian Griffin. It's a salary-saving move for Seattle, pure and simple, but any move that prevents Wally Who from playing against us the next two games is good for us. He kills us.

As far as the Wafer pick-up, it was for one reason: shooting. I know what his season percentages say but this kid can shoot from distance if given the chance. I don't imagine he'll get an extensive chance but it never hurts to have another bomber sitting over there in your uniform just in case.

Update: PickAxeandRoll has a little bit more Von Wafer info.
