Henry on NPR

Today as I was driving home from work I was listening to NPR's show Marketplace. During the show I got to listen to Henry talk a little about the NBA. It was fun to hear, and while it certainly wasn't new info, it's worth listening to again. Also, there's a fun little Blazers sideplot in there. The interviewer used to be a big Blazer fan, but recently stopped caring about the NBA. Sounds like a few people we might know, eh? Here it is.

Aldridge in Simmons' new column

The Sports Guy included this tidbit in his column today on the NBA MVP.
39. LaMarcus Aldridge Note to Portland fans: You were right, I was wrong. He's a keeper. Even if he reminds me so much of Charles Smith that I wouldn't be surprised if they lost a key playoff game some day because LeBron blocked his layup three straight times at the buzzer.
I thought that was appropriate, especially after he said that we should have tried to trade him at the deadline. But I was a little surprised and disappointed that Roy wasn't in his top 25. Maybe it's the Blazers colored glasses, but isn't Roy one of the 25 most valuable players in the league? It's a great column, though, and even though I still believe Paul is the MVP, he makes a great case for KG.

SI Vault articles about the Blazers

Okay, I know it's not great to just put links to personal blogs, but I can't do the work twice. I went through and linked to nearly all of the articles about the Blazers or Blazers players that have run in SI over the last 38 years. They're on my blog by headline and date. Enjoy. I'm really looking forward to reading the Curry Kirkpatrick articles that were referenced in Red Hot and Rollin' and the articles about Sabonis, my all-time favorite Blazer.

Trumpet fanfare

I know that this is a response to something that's pretty old, but for some reason I just finally did something about it. For those of you who wanted to download the Trumpet fanfare at the beginning of the Blazer broadcasts, here is a link to an mp3 file. I know that there are ways to make ringtones out of mp3 files, but I'm not sure how. I hope that anyone who had wanted this song finds it helpful. I'll try to figure out how to make it into a ringtone and get that posted in the near future.
