Royce White & Portland Culture

4

Recently we've discussed Greg Oden and Portland. He has reportedly said that Portland just wasn't the right place for him. With Royce White's anxiety problems I'd argue that Portland is the PERFECT place for him, with its friendly atmosphere and little big city mentality. If we end up trading back in the draft and picking up a lowry or millsap or any other asset I would be in favor of picking up White. Could be a steal, anxiety issues seem overblown. Thoughts?

Portland's 57th pick invalidated?

14

Jonathan Givony reports on Twitter that the surprise Qatar player that the Timberwolves were after (using Portland's 57th pick) may have been lying about his age: "Uh-oh, looks like our guy T'Wolves draft pick Tanguy Ngombo has been busted for lying about his age: http://bit.ly/kfxzqp (hat-tip @sJacas )" http://twitter.com/#!/DraftExpress/status/84330036089466881 He says this is common practice in Qatar to nationalize players. The fact that Ngombo is 27 may mean that his is ineligible to be drafted: "NBA should invalidate it. Not that it matters, but he was ineligible to be drafted. RT @kpelton: So what happens to the Tanguy Ngombo pick?" http://twitter.com/#!/DraftExpress/status/84334539895357440 All of this would be really funny if it were simply another KAAAAAHHHNNNN moment, but this time Portland is involved because the Blazers are supposed to trade the pick to Minnesota. I have no idea what happens to the trade if the pick is invalidated.

Reggie Jackson May Have Draft Promise from Blazers

According to this article, there's a rumor and a theory floating around that Portland is the team to have gotten Reggie Jackson to cancel all of his workouts.

Kemba Walker - Blazers do what you can to get this guy. The highlights are impressive, but make sure to check out the score and time left in the game against QUALITY opponents. A lot of these highlights are in crunch time with the score tied or within a few points. With Brandon Roy's knees, the Blazers could use a guy like Walker to play point guard and generate points off the dribble like a Rose or Westbrook. And he already has a better jumper than either of those guys. Kemba Walker is one of two players in this draft who have serious star potential (the other one is Derrick Williams). Blazers need a perimeter star who can get his shot whenever he wants badly. All accounts he is a high character guy. He is graduating from UCONN in 3 years, so you know he works hard off the court as well. So go get him. Here is another video if you want to see more. It is more extensive and includes commentary from a lot of experts and even president.

Blazers lose draft order tiebreakers

23

Today, the NBA broke ties for the NBA draft and draft lottery. Four teams finished 50-32 (Portland, Boston, OKC, and San Antonio), and the Blazers managed to lose all 3 tiebreaker rounds with the other teams, and will be picking last among the four. Dang.

ESPN Draft Lottery is a nightmare! Can you imagine Utah with John Wall and Minn. with Evan Turner. Not good. Glad this will most likely not happen.
