Gameday Open Thread: Blazers vs. Kings

A 4-1 record on this road trip would be plenty nice, eh?  Is it possible?  Is it probable?  Is it...DESTINY?  Or was that the name of Governor Spitzer's date the other night?  I forget.

Anyway, register all of your deliciously insightful pre-, in-, and post-game thoughts right here.

I predict
A Blazers win against a Sacramento team that rallies against Channing Frye's comments.

Read the Sactown Royalty blog: they get slightly offended that Channing said their city is boring, but I'm none-too-sure that by the end of the comment thread, they haven't convinced themselves he's right.

PS that sentence rocked.

Read the Sactown Royalty blog
Good Diaries and comments. I might add that Blazer´s Edgers are doing more than 20 good diaries per day, the same production people from Sac are doing per month!. Is there a ranking of NBA blogs?. I think Blazer´s Edge could reach the top.

Tom Ziller
Tom Ziller (posts as "TZ") runs Sactown Royalty, and he's a smart boy who likes to make interesting graphs and stat analysis.  He also writes for AOL's Fanhouse blog in the basketball section, and he does good work.

Of course, no blog is better than Blazers Edge.  Dave has formed the most active, devoted, intelligent, and bestest community ever in the history of the universe.  We're never hungry for content, that is a certainty.

The Best Team deserves the Best Fans, right?

I don't think there is any team-centric blog as active as Blazers Edge.  We're bigger than Jesus!

Man guilty/wife gets a gift
is a tradition all over the world. A solution could be to do gifts all days to your wife, so she can´t know when you are guilty or not. Expensive and effective, two words wifes like.

The man with a ton of theories
would say this one:

When a man marries usually has two disadvantages in his relationship with his wife: 1 .- He does not control his obligations at home like a woman does it, so sooner than later will be giving excuses. 2.- He has not menstruation once a month, so he has not these three or four days of fury against the other sex, with the powerful effect that that brings. Young husband´s solution: to do what he always did with the only woman he knew with power at home, his mother, to expect pity and forgiveness. Great mistake.

Going to the point, do you think Nate should know about players relations and its influence in their performance?. Do you think Sergio does not play since ...?.

Is "fetch" the word that a hot girl from Mean Girls was trying to make slang for cool?. That´s what I´ve found about it. I didn´t see the film. It was about basketball and the effect of girls in players´ performance or it was about a governor and his performance...?.

I had two diaries going
I get all worked up reading the days diaries and write something, or think about writing something, then around 6:00 AM (my shift is midnight-8:00 AM) all I can think about is going to sleep.  I have a diary written and sitting in my e-mail but I don't think it's worth posting.

There are so many diaries being published each day, that I don't see the point in publishing something I do not find entertaining.  I had a nice "I hate Jack" one going but it would be best to publish it on a game day when he causes a turnover.

During our mini-tailspin
When we were perilously close to falling to even .500 (and more perilously close than now), Sacramento was nipping at our heels with only 3 games below .500.  Now we've won a few at home and on the road, and Sacramento has fallen to 7 below .500 and not playing as good as they were when they beat us.  This will be a tough game, but we can do it my friends!

Handling Beno and Kevin Martin will be key, and hoping Artest has one of his games where chucking jumpers is all he feels like doing.  This team is soft (aside from Artest), but talented and they can easily beat us if we aren't on our game.  Luckily, we're coming off another victory that sealed a winning road trip and hopefully we will feel confident and eager for revenge.  We haven't lost at home much this year, and we need to get that one back.

Unfortunately, even though we've been beating the teams we should beat, we haven't been playing incredible and our bench has been pretty bad.  We NEED Outlaw and Jack to play up to their normal level, with Jones hitting the shots he's been hitting.  The Kings have good offensive firepower, and we can't just have our starters providing all of the points.  LMA should have a great game, and with how he's played this trip he should be confident down low.  Of course, I never worry about Roy but if Artest is on him Roy will be out muscled and possibly held in check-- we need everyone else to step up.

This is definately a team that can beat us again, a team that would be in the playoffs in the East (maybe not with their current record, but with their talent).  It's crazy wack that there are only 3 bad teams in the West (Seattle, Memphis, Minny (Clippers get a pass because of injuries))...

C'mon Blazers!  Play BIG and confident and get a nice win in Arco!

Don't fake the funk on a nasty dunk, Ellie Mae!
Juke and duke and make Artest puke, Roy-Bot!
Hit threes with ease, Webster!
Hit treys till your hairs are greys, Jones!
Block the rock and knock 'em out of their jock, Joel!
Don't worry and frown about knocking it down, Travis!
Listen to my sounds when I humbly request you not step out of bounds, Jack!
Give the defenders vertigo with your dribbles, fakes, and passes-o, Sergio!
Make all you take n' leave them in your wake, Blake!
I will never cry 'WHY!?" as long as you try, Frye!
Never throw in our towels, use your six fouls, Raef!
Wear a nice suit and cough when you toot, McRoberts!
Make America safer by just being Von Wafer!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BLAZERS from Portland!

CUSSING LESSONS...
The school marm's rules for cussing are a little confusing. The basic rule is that Carlin's 7 words and a few others aren't to be used or simulated being used -- people were freaking on you for leading with the letter F. That's a no-no. "f-ing" is right out, even though its used adjectivally rather than as a verb or a violent interjection...

I personally like %&$^##(&N myself, which is faster to type anyway and seems to work fine.

Pleading to various deities seems to be OK, cursing them frowned upon.

There are ways to be pottymouth by using big vocabulary in appropriate context, but if you don't have a big vocabulary, don't try, because things will end badly for you.

This come from a Spanish saying
used when there are many people in a a situation you would like to be few ("few" is ironic in that sentence) and they arrive more people (who in the sentence are represented by grandma´s new baby).

It probably comes from the time when families were very poor and there were not enough to eat because parents had many children and then grandmother had a baby not expected, causing more desperation.

Very creative Rice.

Nice confident shot from Sergio.
At least he showed some heart even though he came in when it was too late.

It really is different Timbo
you do annoy all heck out of me, but you're generally reasonble and matter of fact about it. Clearly you enjoy being here.

BlazerDynasty, it feels like there's real anger there and it makes me uncomfortable. There's a guy who sits near me at games and when we lose he actually looks a little crazed, and has been known to scream obscenities at the team (not that they can hear him), but he scares me, too.

Final score
I have compiled his stats, so you don't have to:
BlazerDynasty:
33 (really) negative comments
5 neutral comments
8 thinly (or not so thinly) veiled profanities

(Oh, but he loves the Blazers and is not a bandwagon fan, so don't you be worried about that!)
Yay, I hope he comes back next game, too.

(Yeah, I know I should just ignore it, but I didn't feel like it, plus the profanity is a threat to my beloved BE)

No, it's okay, you've still insinuated thay several of my posts are ludicrous, so it's all good- you're still bringing your A- game at least.

We had no shot at winning this game.
No lead changes at all.  Thats right 0 against the Kings and no ties either.  Simply amazing.  A -14 for Jack tonight.  I hope all you kids out there are keeping track.  They simply played with no heart today.

Nate must be pushing these guys too hard.  They must be tired from the road trip.  Please tell me what excuse is it this time.

Blake was horrible today.  He set the tone at the start with the first 3 poss and you get 3 TO.  Great job Blake.  We saw Sergio early but he played with Jack.  Jack brings everybody down.  Yes, we should have seen Von Wafer earlier.  But -14 in the stats makes you look like a genius.  Great job Nate.  Jack at SG, Jack at PG, he can do it all, he's the best.

Its a marathon, not a sprint.

Stats don't tell you everything son.
Does it tell you how intelligent or how hard they were playing out there?  No, you have to watch the game.

We had 3 TO in the first 3 poss.  That is the responsibility of the PG.  The game was lost after that.  The stats don't tell you that.

Its a marathon, not a sprint.

LMA and Roy has some blame but
they didn't really get the ball where they needed it tonight.  They might just get charged for the TO.  It was probably a bad pass or bad play.  They are our 2 top weapons and we have to go down with them blazing.

I see a leadership problem.  And nobody is held accountable for mistakes.

Its a marathon, not a sprint.

I had to add one more thing. The NBA refs are
pretty bad.  That traveling by Artest when he hit that 3 and Barret said he stepped on the line too but I have to use my DVR to make sure.  Its hard to win games with -3 disadvantage every game.  But its the NBA.  Its not about the game.  Its about money.

I will now do all my talking with my big fat wallet Mr. Stern.

Its a marathon, not a sprint.

Hee hee
everyone knows that the NBA is fixing the games to get Sacramento in the finals.  It's the night life there, all the reporters want to get to town to cover the playoffs.
By the way, Channing Frye says he saw a rat in the movie theater in Sacramento last night, so I guess he won't be changing his mind about the city any time soon.

Dynasty
You are absolutely right. That is exactly what i am seeing also. Even with Greg Oden we need to start having more consistency with this team. This team has a chance to be a Dynasty in the future. I really feel we need to tweak this team a little to be that dynasty that we all want. I dont feel we need to ruin the cast but we need a couple of trades to help get the consistency back before we get Greg Oden. Thank you for reading and commenting back.

inconsistencies
A few examples of the inconsistencies are: The win in New York in overtime, that is unexcuseable. Just playing weaker teams down to the wire whether at home or on the road. I can be a lot more forgiving on the road except for the hapless Nicks. Come on portland lets start learning from Nate, or lets make an off season trade.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
