Oden practices in Sacramento

Woo hoo!

Star-divide

Quick is reporting it today (and it's worth a read):

http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2008/03/dreaming_of_oden.html

Today's the 6-month anniversary of the surgery, and it's his first practice since.

Nothing more than a simple "woo hoo!" from me. :) Looks like he's nicely on schedule.

Travis Outlaw drops the sledgehammer on Daequan Cook for a dunk so vicious, it's illegal in 48 states.

Man
That was fun to read. I wish Quick had busted out his cell phone and got some video.

that's nice to hear
I'm going to continue enjoying this year, but i have to admit i'm drooling a little.

The pryz and 82 games comment amused me.  I hope he wins that bet.

Team OK just has to say that we'll take the lead with no delay. We have the players to keep the pace and in the end we'll win the race.

Actually,
I really dug that comment from Joel.  Shows he's all business - I love that intensity and drive.  Next year, provided both Joel and Greg stay injury-free, we're gonna be SCARY in the paint.

Let the pwnage start now.

No Doubt.
We will go from having a legit big on the floor 22.5 minutes a game to probably close to 40 minutes a game.

Hi
hey remember Quick talking something about a roster resolution on Blazers team, on 1080 the fan? We havent heard nothing yet. But Oden is cooming back good next year, he is so buff, like a rock.

by RipCity on Mar 12, 2008 6:40 PM PDT reply actions

you're not going to be happy about this
but I think it was the Rudy article we saw on saturday, and the statement was kind of aimed at the newer less informed blazer's fan. I know, I was extremely unhappy, I was chanting "Medical Retirement" Thursday and Friday.
THIS would have been epic, you would have had people going crazy if Oden was coming back for the last 18 games. Wow.
I really really hope that we don't trade anybody, well except maybe Raef, or Darius. I mean I really think that next year with Oden around we could be awesome, with absolutely minimal roster changes.
Our biggest problem is rebounding and inside presence: That is taken care of next year.
We no longer have to stick 5 guys in the triangle to get a rebound: We can fast break
Everyone on the opposite team will have to crash in to stop Oden: With the kick out James Jones and Martell combine for 333,333 three-pointers, no misses.
Jack no longer has to make decisions on the floor: Nate simplifies the game plan to alley-oop to Oden.
The All-Star game is no longer boring: All of the other teams in the league combine so that way they can have a chance of beating the blazers, and still lose.
The NBA: where Oden happens (and leads the Blazers to 30 consecutive NBA titles)

Geez
I felt giddy reading that.  I had to slow down and savor every word, then go back to the beginning and do it again.

GO backing down Luke and dunking on him?  Then slamming the backboard with both hands on the way down for good measure?  Sweet!!  And he has 7 more months to get in shape for training camp.  I can't wait.

I mean, I REALLY can't wait.
I just asked a friend if there's some way to go into an induced coma for seven months.  I'd be up for that.

Look...up in the sky!
It's a bird! No, it's a plane! No, it's our big man about to dunk in the face of every team in the league.

Wowser!
it gets one all tingly inside.

aren't we going to have fun next season??!!

cynical me says "of course this was all timed to sell season's tickets which go on sale to the general public next week", but who cares.  Great news!

(I loved backing down Lucas, but I also loved Blake "whistling" a technical - that's all part of the chemistry...)

Ahhh sigh.  Is it October yet???

Sacramento Rocked by Earthquake!!!
The cause of that earthquake was Portland TrailBlazer Greg Oden going for the two-handed dunk!!!!!!

Massive Major Monster WWOOOHHOOOO's!!!!!

Oden! Oden! Oden! Oden! Oden! Oden!

NBA Beware! All other teams will be posterized to pieces! Pillaged! Plundered! Posterized!

Shattering!
The picture of crippled rehab that is. If he can get up and dunk already he is rounding the curve of the homestretch of his recovery. Sweeeeet!

I smiled, I did the Christmasy kid laugh and then
I said to myslef, "self, should Oden be jumping like that on that knee?". I know, I am a bit paranoid. I just do not want him having any setbacks. If he is feeling good and pain free it is going to be hard for him not to go full tilt. That takes some serious self discipline.

By the way, who noticed that when he was on the halftime report in the studio that his suit didn't even fit? His guns were on the verge of breaking the seams. Shaq, Oden will not fear your elbows.

these oughta bring tears to everyone's eyes:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbgepARu7-c

and in case you missed it, watch this dunk again.  Its ok I will wait...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8fv810QfY8

Is that really possible? He catches at the freethrow line and finishes with an effortless dunk? NO DRIBBLES.  Joel cant even dunk it when he catches it right below the hoop, and I think Joel is crucial to our team.  Gives me the heebie-jeebies thinking about.

And finally, what true blazer fan doesnt get goose bumps when watching this:

Seeing as I was born in 79
and missed the championship year, that video goes down as my #1 favorite moment ever as a Blazer fan, hands down! (for now at least!)

This makes me happy
Few things make me happy, as I am a horrible person with a dark, decrepit, rotted soul.  But even I get giddy and gleeful when I imagine Oden dunking with vengeance, recovering completely pain free and monster athleticism intact!

Oooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh is it Christmas yet?!?!

Next year begins the downfall of the entire NBA because there will be no reason for anyone to watch any game aside from Portland fans, because we will somehow beat every single team every night simultaneously-- all thirty teams, every night.  EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE ONLY 29 OTHER TEAMS, we will beat 30 of 'dem.  Instead of a allstar Olympic team, they'll just send in the Blazers' roster.  Or, we'll form our own country and the Trail Blazers of the nation of Portlandia will win the Gold medal every year.  EVEN THOUGH THE OLYMPICS IS ONLY EVERY 4 YEARS, we'll win it yearly.  MONTHLY, even.  No, DAILY!  HOURLY!

OH MY STARS WE ARE AMAZING.

You know what? I like what Oden will bring to our team.  Yeah, I went there.  I'm bold with my praise.

Pride
comes before the fall! Remember this and that his knee could blow out again and our glee would be permanent gloom!!!! Stay humble, happy, and IF we win a championship... LIVE IT UP!!!!

Sounds like he's right on track
For a fake injury recovery.  KP is an evil genius. I don't know if Oden's showboating and slapping the backboard fits the Blazers culture.  I mean, if he's getting technical fouls from Steve Blake, you know the refs are going to hammer him.
That was so fetch!

Here we go!
This is the clip that always gets me fired up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDo7hZTU6Gs

I can't wait to see him do this to every Harris, Calderon and Parker that gets past Jack, Blake and Sergio next year.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside.
