At Your Service

Ahhh... still basking in the after-glow of a great victory. So here's something a little lighter for you...

Scorcho, tweener and jorga noted in the comments that I forgot to mention one of the most important happenings of yesterday evening's game.  The Ford Blimp, which circles the arena dropping worthless gift certificates, indeed malfunctioned pretty badly, crashing into the fans in the 200 level.

Jorga (who also wrote up a great game recap in the comments which you should check out) wondered if the incident would end up on Youtube.

I am happy to oblige.  Here's a link to video I shot of Portland's Hindenburg.

Please note: I would have embedded the video directly in this post but there is some light, astonished profanity in our terrible play-by-play commentary. You won't miss anything if you just mute it.

Enjoy!

The NBA...
Where malfunction happens

I think it's a great oppurtunity
to get a AAA sponsorship; whenever the blimp malfunctions, a tow truck blimp comes out and takes it away.

wow
I'm mentioned on the front page of BE.  This is about as close to celebrity status that I'll ever achieve so I'm going to relish the moment.

The most amusing thing was that our whole section (316) pretty much missed the first 2 minutes of the 2nd half as we spent those moments staring at the blimp wondering if a fan was going to get a very special souvenir.

Also
Ben mentions "worthless gift certificates" that the blimp drops.  It was an extremely rare night, as the blimp was actually dropping things that people wanted -- Cirque Du Soleil tickets!  I'm pretty sure this was the first time ever that the blimp dropped anything that made people think, "God, I wish I was under the blimp to catch one".

Thanks, Ben!
Somehow I totally missed seeing that.  Guess I was looking elsewhere.

FWIW, our seats are so high up that the blimp cannot get above us, so we're never in the running for its ... uh ... droppings, worthless or not.

They only give free stuff...
to the people who buy the expensive tickets. When I sat in my $10 seats, they never aimed the t-shirt cannons towards me. :(

I have had many dreams
Where I shoot down that blimp with blow darts.  Another reason that I'm upset that I was sick and missed the game.  EVerything I could possibly want and dream of happened that night.

All my dreams came true, and I was at home asleep missing it.

HAHA
I was right above that when it happened and I thought the blimp pilot was diong it on purpose. It was funny and entertaining, any reason how you know he didn't do it on purpose?
