It's gonna be ugly
I wish it wasn't going to be ugly, but it's going to be ugly.

Planting a seed
Oden needs to watch this game, understand how much we need (not want, NEED) to thump the L*kers whenever we see that wretched purple tide seeping across the floor.
Oden needs to look at Jack N., smug there in his dark glasses, and want to spoil his day -- want to make him flip out like in The Shining (minus the ax).
Oden needs to want this ... because 365 days from now, I wanna see Oden walk away from a game like this with 8 blocks, 7 assists, 22 rebounds and 24 points. Give him two or three steals too.

Pre-game cursing? That way its all in good fun and not when I'm seriously perturbed afterwards.

Never say never...
But I'm close to saying that about this game.  Dave said that only masochists watched the last one to the bitter end.  Tonight, I may choose not to lie on that bed of nails--after the 3rd quarter, anyway.

I should explain
It's really the Kobe factor.  I can't stand seeing him happy--especially at the expense of the Blazers.  The good news: I can look forward to one of the other Western powerhouses (hopefully) grinding the L*kers to dust in the playoffs.

Geesh...
A lot of times I'm the one at Blazers Edge who feels like maybe I'm being too negative. Sure The Lakers are firing on all cylinders lately, and Kobe has caught the scent of something he hasn't smelled in a long time, a big Pau of Improvement. But these are The L*kers. The Ball hasn't yet been tossed in the air. I've GOT to believe we have a chance. More than a chance.
The way I look at it, at least in part we are not playing with our All-Star guard because he was dedicated enough to play in "two" All-Star games while nursing an injury. Kobe respected the fans and the league by sitting out. Doesn't that put the Karmic advantage clearly in The Blazers column?
Go Blazers! Win one for Roy, and Win one for Pride. There is a history here. Can't afford to give up before the ball is even tossed up!

Don't you know negathink when you hear it?
Negathink is a powerful weapon.  It's clearly the Blazers' only chance.  And frankly, it's not hard to summon for this game.

Couple Thoughts
Our bench is going to be THIN tonight....and with 3 games in 4 nights there's going to be some tired bodies out there by week's end.

That being said I'm not too down on tonight's game. One good thing is that Bynum is still out, and even though Gasol is 7-foot he is not a huge physical presence in the post. Does anyone remember when we beat the Lakers toward the end of the season 2 years ago, during the most dismal year I can ever remember as a Blazers fan? Steve Blake (during his first go-round with us) played some great man D on Kobe. Let's hope he and Martell can at least slow him down a little bit tonight.

They are going down
It's my first chance to watch the Blazers via the Southern California FSN.  LA really should rest Kobe because of his bad finger and then the Blazers will sneak out of the side hatch and kick the white dog poo, from the '70's out of them.

Not planning...
on watching this one. I have too many friends that are LA fans, and they're still gloating from 2000 (and 2001, and 2002). I really wish this wasn't such a one-sided rivalry.

Greg, Brandon, Lamarcus...please do something about it!

You meant
'91. That was the 63-19 Blazer team that lost in six to the Lakers. In '92, we beat the Magic-less Lakers in the first round.

(But yeah, 97 and 98, they beat us in the first round as well. Viva la 1977 and 1992!)

I want a great game
We fight hard and punch these dilknobs in the face and/or nuts and play with atomic fire then we can win.  The Lakers ain't nuthin!

LMA needs to be alpha today.  Webster needs to show Kobe that he stole some of Kobe's mojo when Kobe gave Martell his shoes when Marty was a rookie.  Outlaw needs to twist and turn and leap and hit his standard impossible shots.  We need to get these loser Laker fans out of the game (which isn't hard), and Pau dreaming about his mama's homemade tostadas and nachos and chalupas (obligatory Mexican food/Spanish player joke now fulfilled).  Kobe will remember he's KOBE BRYANT not some team first JOKER and try to get his scoring average up-- but not before being confronted with the ivory arm of defense, STEVE BLAKE!  Try to score past the Tyrant of the Terrapins now, Kobe-- or should I say FLO-BE?  Because you cut your hair with a vacuum!  Ahhhh burn!  I win!

Just play hard and see what happens.  Ride this win with a thrashing of the Clippers and get Roy back for a sold out Friday night raucous home game against the Lakers again.

It'll be fun!

I dunno
Odom has managed to stir up some resentment, I think.  All we need is for Kobe to nail someone with one of his patented "accidental" flail moves, and the rivalry should be on for real.

Just yesterday, I read somewhere that Kobe studies martial arts.  If true, that's an interesting tidbit.  Just in case there are any Blazer fans out there who believe those Kobe chops (like the one that injured Ginobli last year) are actually accidental.

I say it's a victory...
If we lose by less than 20. Probably won't happen.

I like Von Wafer as the new Kobe-stopper though.

Hopefully Kobe will fall down and become severely injured before it's all through,

I don't see us losing by 20
First I don't think the L*kers care that much.  Second I think we're better than that even without Roy.  I expect energy tonight.

One thing to watch for in tonight game
Kobe likes to "take it to the hole" and he won't stop, no matter the resistance.  It's just in his nature.

Just want to pop by and wish you guys luck-
Not here to cause trouble, promise!  Just letting you guys know that I REALLY, REALLY wanted to see roy-  really too bad he's not suiting up, you guys got yourselvs an incredible player for years to come.  Blazers are still the team that I fear the most in this stretch we have- I think a lot of us fans don't give your boys enough credit, but I hope you guys make the playoffs this year.

Mind you, if you make the 8th seed, we'll be forced to kick your arses.  :)

Good luck, I'm expecting a tight game!  Nice blog you guys run here, keep it up!

A laker fan being nice
See!!!

They don't take us seriously enough to hate us back!  How rude!

Anyway, you have yourself a nice team too.  I expect you'll be a barrier (again) for the next few years before our guys start to peak.  I thought we'd do it in the next three (not including this year), but it may be four if the lakers are still clicking.

Then... yeah.  We'll be stomping for a while.

maybe . . .
Von Wafer will be put in with 5 minutes left, the L*kers up 23.  He will lead us to a comeback for the ages with 8 straight 3's along with 4 steals and 2 blocked shots on the other end.  Blazers win 114-111

by sixth on Feb 26, 2008 5:49 PM PST   0 recs

tonite - argh
I'm going to force myself to watch. It's not fair the L*kers gotten Gasol and Fisher for next to nothing. The only justice will be when the Blazers hit the lottery two years in a row and get the 1st pick again.

I have a good feeling about this game
I don't know why, I just do.

Do you ever have that feeling where you don't know if it's a fart or a turd, but you just let it rip anyway?

That's how I feel about this game.  The Blazers just need to let one rip, and we'll see how things turn out in the end.
