All's Wells that Ends Wells

ESPN.com is reporting that Bonzi Wells mysteriously no-showed the Rockets' shoot around and game today, leaving a message on the team trainer's phone that he feels he is "disrupting chemistry".

  1.  Aren't you glad we don't have these kind of distractions (that much) anymore?
  2.  It looks like Portland fans will get far fewer opportunities to lustily boo Wednesday night.  Sad for us.

P.S. Credit to BWolf for also finding this story. Ah yes, and Quality Pie too. Sorry guys for not noticing your diaries before I posted this.

In other news you can check the diaries for all the latest on Lamarcus. I left that all for you guys.

He got the story also but was too coy to get credit for it.

Oh yeah, and hoooooray for the disbanding of the jail blazers and may they enjoy troubled and disjointed careers elsewhere in the league (or not in the league if it suits them).

I'm the smartest guy I know, just ask me.

How is
leaving the team in the lurch any less chemistry disrupting than being with the team?  What a fruit loop, what he is doing is just selfish.
Shan was eloquent/Kris was intelligent/ the R was all the above with added elements.

It's just too easy to be...
hating on these guys.  I think the problem is that we wanted to love them so much.  Like an ex-girlfriend we once thought of proposing to and now can't bear to look at, our love turns to hate.

Bonzi, Miles, Sheed, DA... we wanted to pin our hopes and dreams on these guys and they, each in their own ways, let us down.  Spit on us.  Literally in some cases.

So we swear never to love again.  Well, except for Roy and Aldridge and Jack and...

Not too far off,
but these guys were a strong contributing factor to me not enjoying the game for a few years.  This season has been such a relief actually liking the players and not having to convince myself it's okay to like the players.  I haven't loved watching the games in at least 8 years, and for the last couple of years I haven't even liked it that much.  This year I have LOVED watching the games because I love the players, not just the colors they wear.

I don't really want any bad things to happen to former players - but if they won't learn from mistakes, it feels like just reward to know that their bad attitude has come full circle to bite them on the butt.

I'm the smartest guy I know, just ask me.

I thought it interesting
that Gumby kept say "I have to make sure he is safe" and "I hope he is safe." What's with this parental type concern of Bonzi's wellbeing?

I have a different take
I think he's maybe taking a bit of responsibility that he is causing a disruption in chemistry and trying to make things better, albeit in a misguided way. I see it as a positive sign. I also hope he's not struggling with alcohol/drug abuse or depression. That would explain a lot. Sure, he makes a lot of money, but that doesn't make him any less human.

Bonzi should be careful...
If he keeps this up, he might start getting a bad reputation around the league!

Bonzi just needs a fresh start on a new club.  A clean slate, a new destination, an understanding team without the evil Houston media hounding him... it will do wonders.

This is in no way Bonzi's fault.  Houston is a one horse town if there EVER was, and only about 3 or 4 major league sports teams.  Their media just focuses too much on the players, and Bonzi can't even murder an orphan without it showing up somewhere in the NBA section of the Houston sports page.  It's ridiculous!

If everyone would stop picking on Bonzi at every single place he ever went to in his NBA career, we'd see the real Bonzi.  He's a pretty good small forward after all, good post up game and probably one of the best rebounders for his size.  Hey, you know what... we kinda have a need for a small forward... maybe...

Maybe we can contact Houston for a trade?  We don't know the whole story, and a new team to call home is probably all this misunderstood player needs.

GET ON THE PHONE PRITCHARD!  He hasn't made ONE trade since he became the so-called "GM"!!  Not ONE.  Looks like we know who REALLY was behind the 6 trades on draft day... too bad Steve Patterson is stuck in the unemployment line all day, we could use someone with guts to make a move.

Heh.
Sarcasm duly noted. Well done.

I don't think Houston could get a chair for Bonzi.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
