Gameday Open Thread: Blazers vs. Spurs

Here we go again.  We were fortunate to get one win out of the Texas Triangle.  Two would be unimaginable.  But it will be fun to chat about anyway!

Ah yes
Here we go again.  Having to play the Spurs is rough but it's time to take our medicine.  At least this will be the last game of this trip.

We'll be here all game offering thoughts and reading your musings.

Bucky

by Bucky Blazer on Apr 9, 2007 5:16 PM PDT reply actions

Hmmmmm
We're doing a decent job rotating but we ended up with a big mismatch there where Roy fouled Duncan.  TD at the line.

by Dave on Apr 9, 2007 5:16 PM PDT reply actions

I want good enough defenders
that we don't have to switch and scramble all the time.

Tim hits 2.  12-8

by Dave on Apr 9, 2007 5:16 PM PDT reply actions

SWeeeet! Oh.
Raef cross court to Jack with a bullet pass to Mags deep...off his hands.  Bummer.  It was nice looking until the end.

Now Parker fouled on a drive.

by Dave on Apr 9, 2007 5:17 PM PDT reply actions

Almost a really nice play
but mags couldnt get his paws on the HOT pass from JJ.
Bucky

Parker hits one
and misses second.  13-8.  Score now.

by Dave on Apr 9, 2007 5:17 PM PDT reply actions

Raef rushes a jumper

Now Parker steals.  Right by LaFrentz, lays it in, and kind of a ghost foul for the and one.

by Dave on Apr 9, 2007 5:18 PM PDT reply actions

Parker hits
and we get a foul now.  16-8

Our is non shooting but that's OK as Mags was fouled

And on cue he misses.

What was that Outlaw? You had a clear path on the baseline for a dunk. Instead he does a step back long two J that missed long.

Duncan to Parker for a sweet layup.  23-15

Outlaw
0 passes thus far.
- Sam

by Samuelson on Apr 9, 2007 5:31 PM PDT reply actions

Sorry
We miss.  They break.  Bonner flushes it.

This is the problem with the long-or-layup offense.  Opposing teams can break on either of those misses.

Now Bonner for three?  Stop that!  30-19

by Dave on Apr 9, 2007 5:31 PM PDT reply actions

Hey ref
that was a foul.
- Sam

by Samuelson on Apr 9, 2007 5:32 PM PDT reply actions

Now Bowen to Finley ALLEY-OOP!

by Dave on Apr 9, 2007 5:48 PM PDT reply actions

Ugh
I can't wait for the technicals on flops rule. I am sick and tired of Oberto, Varejao, Ginobili, and everyone else that flops on every touch.

Ohhhhh
SPurs score.  Magloire is inside alone and manages to get the shot blocked.  And nobody gets back in transition and Spurs score again.  And now Jamaal with a semi-hollow dunk.  49-36

by damir on Apr 9, 2007 6:01 PM PDT up reply actions

Maybe you were focused on Sergio
I was checking out the Jack who went into the biggest slump of any Blazer this year.  Check out the box scores for more details on that.

I'm not a proponent of Sergio starting, but you're blind if you don't think that Jack has a lot to work on from a consistency standpoint.

- Sam

by Samuelson on Apr 9, 2007 6:06 PM PDT up reply actions

Ugh yea

Parker just made a cut and we let him go completely.  Jack fell asleep.  Then he compounded it by fouling him on the make.  And Parker hits.  Jarrett...tsk tsk.  69-59

Oh crud
Parker now takes over again and nobody is there.  71-59

by Dave on Apr 9, 2007 6:38 PM PDT reply actions

If we're going to defend like that
we should just roll a red carpet down the lane and make Parker wear a Versace dress.  His lady can hook him up.

Jack misses, then Parker misses, then Jack is fouled but MISSES the first!

by Dave on Apr 9, 2007 6:39 PM PDT reply actions

Now Parker is fouled
but he's missing free throws tonight!  Missed first.  AND second!  BUT NO!  WE GET A FOUL CALLED ON THE REBOUND!  INCREDIBLE!
