Here's Jason Quick's game story.

And one from Kerry Eggers too.

Kerry Eggers also has a recap of some of the team's charity work.

And here's Mike Barrett's take which includes a fantastic picture of the Blazer bench.

For those who, like Mike, are fretting about TNT's Ernie Johnson not remembering that the Blazers had won four in a row earlier this year (claiming that these were our first back-to-back wins), don't sweat it.  They'll remember us when we're winning back-to-back championships, eh?

TNT
I watch all of the weekday games on tape because I work a swing shift schedule and would (most times) rather be able to see the games than listen to them live on the radio.  I usually fast forward through the postgame stuff, but I've always enjoyed TNT's Inside the NBA coverage... or used to back before I started working the hours that I work now.  I heard the mistake the first time and figured they'd eventually correct themselves later, but then I checked out this place and Barrett's Blog and was pretty surprised.

I also wasn't too impressed about how they spent an entire segment talking about how Joel should have kicked Shaq in "the onions".  Seems like creativity was lacking a bit there...

But when we win 4 championship in a row...
Big Ernie Johnson will just say "this is the first time the Trailblazers have won consecutive championships" and then Chuck and Kenny will chortle and say "THAT AIN'T NO DYNASTY", and then we look like a bunch of dumb jerks again.

Then they'll all pronounce Oregon, "Ore-a-gone" and then say how bad for the NBA it is for us to win it all.  It's important that an east coast team wins, it's been empirically proven by science.

We don't get no respect, no respect, I tell ya!

NBA.com
LaMarcus' Slam, Roy's crossover, and Travis Outlaw "drops the sledgehammer on Daequan Cook for a dunk so vicious, it's illegal in 48 states" on NBA's Top 10

by BlazerBandit on Dec 7, 2007 8:43 AM PST   0 recs

That dunk
was a thing of beauty.  And not just because it was a great dunk.  For Travis I think, it was a big thing.  Maybe he finlly exorcised The Big Blown Layup from last year.  We need some guys who can attack the basket with abandon and some thought of punishing the defense.  I think Martel may someday be able to do it, but Travis is looking like he's finally beginning to get it now.

Did anyone else notice...
How severely Travis Outlaw traveled on that dunk?

by DrCoffee on Dec 7, 2007 10:32 AM PST to parent up   0 recs

OH YEAH???
Your FACE traveled on that dunk.

by Mortimer on Dec 7, 2007 10:37 AM PST to parent up   0 recs

I'm sorry DrCoffee
I would call and say sorry but my cell phone broke because someone dropped it in a bathtub while someone was washing a dog.  It wasn't very smart.  Cell phones aren't water proof it seems, which wasn't clearly marked on the packaging so I think I got a case here... and by "I" I mean "whoever was dumb enough to drop their phone in a tub filled with water".

Outlaw did travel, but his travel ended with something awesome so it's not an NBA travel.  Everytime Jack shoots a spot up 3 pointer it could be called a travel cause he takes a mini-hop that I believe TECHNICALLY isn't allowed... but would be ultra lame to call.

Now Sergio's travel was cute cause it reminded me of a kid wearing those foot covered pajames trying to get static electricity built up.  SCOOT SCOOT SCOOT ZAP!

But "Captain Bringdown" has to point out Outlaw traveled!  And once we win a championship in 5 games, you'll point out we didn't sweep the bad guys.  IS NOTHING I OR THE BLAZERS DO GOOD ENOUGH?

Okay, I'm sorry again.

I can't imagine a world were NBA refs call the game consistently... and once we're good and getting the benefit of the calls, do we want them to?

Oh knock off the Outlaw bashing
I'm getting sick and tired of people bashing Travis. Travis is a brilliant young basketball player with a very bright future in the NBA.

Hey guys
people are allowed to make an observation without being accused of bashing or getting yelled at.  He did travel a little.  That's usually let go in the NBA when there's big dunk at the finish.  Stop yelling at DrCoffee for noticing.

OK you're right
I hereby formally apologize to Dr. Coffee for saying that he had engaged in Outlaw bashing.

I am sorry, Dr. Coffee. I concede that you were NOT engaging in Outlaw bashing.

Travis (not Tracy or Bo) Outlaw
I did not realize my comment would be this controversial. I was not intending to bash Travis Outlaw. I, like probably everyone else here, have been extremely impressed with his last two games.

Besides, who could "bash" the man who posed for this?

That is hilarious!
I didn't realize that when you said Outlaw "traveled," you meant that he traveled to the South Pacific and posed for a picture in some native garb. I didn't realize that Travis is such a well-traveled guy.

he did travel...
but it wasn't that severe.  He caught the ball, took one step and then did kind of a staggered jump stop- if the feet had come down together it would have been legit.  They clearly didn't, but this is the NBA- where Lebron is allowed 5 steps.  Also, that first step came while he was catching the ball, so you could have interpreted him as not having control yet- and then he only would have taken two steps.

I loved how he jammed it with authority and then let out a roar.  I agree this was exercising the demons of that missed layup- that Travis isn't going to be soft in crunch time anymore.

who cares
that Ernie Johnson made a mistake?

Seriously, we won on national TV. Roy looked awesome, the announcers seemed impressed. Outlaw looked ridiculously good. Let's not nitpick. No one will even remember that Ernie Johnson made a mistake at the beginning of Inside the NBA on December 6th months from now.

Speaking of errors
Poor Travis gets no respect.  Others have pointed out the one site that keeps linking him to a picture of Bo Outlaw ... well, I just looked at ESPNs video highlights (minimal, not worth linking to) and he was called TRACY Outlaw.  Cool if he's getting confused with McGrady :-)

I'll never forget
how often Terry Porter was called Kevin Porter.  And Terry was an all-star and played a couple of decades in the league.  Kevin Porter was barely a blip on the radar.

I think I can see a pack of smokes rolled up in Sergio's sleeve.

Barkley
I was watching the game at a bar with the sound off. Anyone know if Barkley commented on the blazers?

by TOD on Dec 7, 2007 10:56 AM PST   0 recs

Not really
Mostly he talked about how bad Miami was.

Shaq...
I haven't heard any comments from the front office on the ball-face mash on Joel.  Think he gets a fine / suspension / atomic wedgie for that classless move?

It sure didn't look 'accidental' to me...

by DonkeyShins on Dec 7, 2007 11:35 AM PST   0 recs

Now that's what I'm talking about
More games like that please!

Outlaw gets the game ball for dunking on people like he should be doing every single game.  I hope he's having fun doing that because I want to see more of it.

The thing I didn't see coming was shutting down Dwayne Wade, that was a bit of a shocker.
