Kosta Koufos?

Hello Blazers fans,

I'm a contributor over at Sactown Royalty and with the Kings slowly sinking down the standings, our fans are ready to shop some of (okay, all of) their veteran pieces outside of DeMarcus Cousins.

I think Portland has the best shot to grab the eighth seed out of any of the teams trying to stumble their way into the playoffs, but you guys clearly need some P&R defensive help, especially with Ezeli out of the picture.

Kosta Koufos is your traditional, defensive-minded center with a defensive rating of 104. He's a 27 year old 7-footer who knows how to anchor a defense, rebound, and can occasionally score. He has a decent contract at 3 years, $27 million remaining, including this season.

A couple of other players who I think you may be interested in would be Willie Cauley-Stein and Anthony Tolliver. Cauley-Stein is an athletic rim-runner and shot-blocker who can really help a defense in the right situation. He's also only in his sophomore year, so you would have control of him for an extended period of time. Tolliver was voted the best teammate of the year by the Wizards last season and his locker room presence has shown itself in Sacramento as well. He's a 6-9 stretch four who shoots 40% from 3 point range and would provide a lot of the things that everyone hoped Leonard would do this year. Also, his contract only has $2 million guaranteed next season, so he could provide salary cap relief as wlel.

I don't necessarily love proposing trades to other teams as I don't know how you value your own roster and how much you really need a guy like Koufos, Cauley-Stein, or Tolliver. That being said, I can imagine most of the fans want to get out from under one of the contracts of Crabbe or Turner? What would be your interest level and/or proposed trade to acquire any of these guys or really anyone on our roster? I would be happy to take any ideas back to Sactown Royalty and run them by the group over their to see if we can get some traction.
