Welcome back from the long holiday weekend! Now that summer is officially in swing, we're going to spend a day contemplating the utility and future of CJ McCollum. The 6'4", third-year shooting guard averaged 20.8 ppg for the Portland Trail Blazers this season, shooting 45% from the field and 42% from the arc...stellar numbers by any measure. But the Portland needs help at multiple positions in order to make the jump from "fun story" to true contention. The Blazers already feature a high-scoring guard in Damian Lillard, plus CJ is soon to make bank on an incredibly expensive contract extension.
This afternoon's Blazer's Edge Podcast with myself and Dan Marang will cover all things CJ, including a couple of ultra-tempting deals that have been whispered in our ears. Before we get there we want to throw open the question to you, understanding that it'll be one of the defining issues of the next two seasons.
Is there any way you'd consider trading McCollum? If so, where does your threshold lie? Do you see moving him as a near-inevitable eventuality given the state of the roster, or are you clinging to him with white knuckles that only the greatest offers could pry apart?
Weigh in below on McCollum as a Trail Blazer and consider your Portland Summer underway!
