As Long As We End Up Ahead of OKC, We're Guaranteed A Top-4 Seed

Let me repeat this: No matter how many games we win or lose for the rest of the season, if we win the division and end up with a better record than OKC, we are guaranteed a top-4 seed.

Now, let me also clear something else up: A top-4 seed does NOT guarantee homecourt advantage. In a playoff series, the team with the better record gets homecourt -- it's as simple as that.

Right now, we're 9 games ahead of OKC even though we've lost a bunch of games as of late. Well guess what -- OKC has lost a bunch of games of late too, having lost to the Knicks tonight as well.

Standings

With 36 games left, our only competition to be passed in the divisional standings is by OKC. DEN and UTA are too far back, and MINN is a joke. If we were to only win HALF of our remaining games, we'd still end up with 50 wins. For OKC to end up with 50 or more wins, they'd have to win 27 of their remaining 36 games, or go .750 the rest of the season. So far, they've been barely a .500 team.

In conclusion, STOP PANICKING. We're running away with the division right now, and it's unlikely OKC passes us. Thus, we'll more than likely end up with a top-4 seed, and we'll most likely end up playing the 5th seed on our current trajectory unless we start winning more games. That may not be such a bad thing if we're able to avoid San Antonio in the first round.
