Asset Consolidation

It's that time of year again, nothing to do but mess around with the trade machine until October. It's strange to think that last summer we were poised to be an aspiring 8th seed that was destined to get stomped by OKC or the Spurs. Now we have tangible assets and a duo of all stars who seem to be content with the team. I think it is time that we consolidate our assets into major pieces that can take us to an elite level. Without looking all that deeply into the situation every team is facing, it seems to me this is a buyer's year for teams looking to take a step forward through trades. Some major guys who I think would help us take a step forward without blowing it up are Rondo, Afflalo, and Sanders.

I was shocked when Sacramento didn't trade the number 8 pick for Rondo, I think Rondo is the perfect pick up to play next to Dame. Play Rondo for 30 minutes a night at PG and let Dame start at SG. Dame could play 18 minutes at PG and 18 at SG, allowing Wes to play 30 minutes a night off the bench and assuring that there is always someone who can create for others on the floor. I think CJ, Leonard, Wright and a 2015 first is a good deal for Rondo.

Afflalo even though he was just traded to Denver is also a prime target for a trade. I think Afflalo was picked up in the first place in the hopes that they could trade him for Love, I think it is pretty obvious at this point that that won't work out. Also Harris fell right into their laps during the draft so if they were to just blow it up I assume they would want to clear minutes for him. A fair deal for Afflalo would be something like Leonard, Freeland, and a 2015 first in my opinion.

Now we are at Sanders. Sanders is a bit of a mystery, he reminds me a lot of Randolph. A kid in a bad situation with no one to put him in line. I feel confident enough in our situation that I would take a gamble on him. More then any other player reasonably attainable he could be the third missing piece. If you haven't seen much of him go on YouTube and look up his triple double game, that is what we need at center. I love Rolo and all but he us near his ceiling, he simply lacks the mobility to cover for Dame on the P&R. I propose a trade of Rolo, Freeland, and Claver for Sanders.

An ideal off season for me would be getting Sanders and Rondo, but getting a great 6th man in Afflalo would be great too.
