The teams signed PF Craig Brackins and PG Keith Appling for the roster today. They're also bringing in a couple of scoring combo guards from China, along with a guard from Weber State. Dallas Lauderdale will also return to the Blazers' summer league team.
My question is, how do you think the coaches will use current Blazers this summer? CJ McCollum, for example: Do you play him exclusively at the point, to groom him for the position, or do you keep him in his comfort zone and play him mostly at shooting guard? And what about Barton? Do you play him at shooting guard, or do you have him work mostly from the small forward position? The second option would leave more developmental minutes for Allen Crabbe.
Here's the rotation I want to see:
PG - McCollum/Appling
SG - Crabbe/?
SF - Barton/?
PF - Robinson/Freeland
C - Leonard/Freeland
I know: Leonard's starting over Freeland? Only because Joel can get starters' minutes by playing both power forward AND center. Notice the holes in the lineup? Too bad Victor Claver is busy playing for Spain this summer. There's definitely room in my rotation for a prospect who has the length and versatility to play at the 2 and the 3, and soak up back-up minutes at both positions.
