The NBA draft for me is like Christmas in June. I enjoy reading about potential draft picks and gauging their ceilings and their likelihood to reach these ceilings. Looking at first glance at this draft class I was unimpressed, but honestly the way this year's draft class was hyped I should have seen this coming. That being said I see alot of potential in the original top 3 and a whole bunch of wildcards rounding out the remaining 7 picks. With the foot injury to Embiid happening very close to the draft I can't help but wonder if it is possible the near consensus number 1 pick falls out of the top 5 completely. This poses the question that if he were to fall to the mid lottery should the Blazers make a move to acquire him? I think he has Hakeem like potential, he could be the pick that makes up for drafting Oden if he works out. I assume a move to acquire Embiid would require either Batum or a team that really liked Wes and some other pieces. Since Embiid will likely sit a year, and likely Batum will be gone I think it would be wise to trade LA for the number 1 pick in order to draft Wiggins. If we could trade LA and Mo for Wiggins, Jarrett Jack, and a second round pick or two we would have a ton of potential and a team that has dynastic potential.
The line up would look like Damian-We$-Wiggins-Robinson-Embiid A bench of Rolo, Jack, Barton, Crabbe, and who ever we sign with cap space seems like a decent bench that also contains a lot of potential.
I would definitely want to have Embiids foot checked out before we did anything.
