Portland Trail Blazers guard Mo Williams will miss Game 3 of a Western Conference semifinals series against the San Antonio Spurs due to a groin injury.

Portland Trail Blazers guard Mo Williams is expected to miss Game 3 of a Western Conference semifinals series against the San Antonio Spurs due to a groin injury.

Erik Gundersen of The Columbian reports that Blazers coach Terry Stotts said during a Friday conference call that he "anticipates" being without Williams.

Here's a transcript of Stotts' comments via Gundersen.

Mo WIlliams

There is no update. He's... we anticipate that he will not play tomorrow night and that's the only update.

Who plays if Mo Williams isn't available?

Well, I would assume that Earl [Watson] will get some minutes. Will Barton will get some playing time with Mo averaging his 24 minutes, some of them are at point guard and some of them are at shooting guard or two alongside Damian [Lillard]. His 24 minutes will kind of be spread out among two or three players.

Stotts previously told reporters in San Antonio on Thursday night that Williams wanted to play in the second half of Game 2 but that the training staff nixed the idea. Williams finished with four points (on 2-for-3 shooting) in nine minutes. Stotts turned over Williams' second-half minutes to veteran point guard Earl Watson (zero points, one rebounds in 5 minutes) and second-year shooting guard Will Barton (13 points on 5-for-5 shooting, one rebound). The Spurs went on to beat the Blazers 114-97.

Update (Saturday): Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com reports that Williams is officially out.

Williams, 31, averaged 9.7 points, 4.3 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game as Portland's sixth man this year. He received one third-place vote for 2014 Sixth Man of the Year, although it was cast by Blazers broadcaster Mike Rice.

San Antonio leads the series 2-0. Game 3 is set for the Moda Center on Saturday night.
