What a great year to be a Trail Blazers fan. To see Damian Lillard rise to stardom, to see LaMarcus Aldridge get MVP chants, to see this team who so clearly loves to play together blow everyone's expectations out of the water. From 33 wins last season and a trip to the draft lottery to 54 wins and a second round playoff berth, the first in 14 years. It felt amazing to cheer for a team like this, to see them succeed in some really incredible ways.
But aside from all the winning, the records that were set as a team and as individuals, the incredibly bright future, aside from all that what I will always hold dear are the games I got to watch with my little girl sitting by my side cheering on her favorite player, Damian Lillard, and screaming when a shot was made and booing when the bad guys scored. What a joy to see her get excited over something because daddy's excited about it. She didn't care about the fact that Robin Lopez set a franchise record for most offensive rebounds in season. She just loved the guy with crazy hair. I sure am blessed to have such a little angel for a daughter and I can't wait to raise my son up as a Trail Blazer fan as well.
This is my thank you to the Portland Trail Blazers for playing with such class and being a team that's easy to root for.
