Not time to jump ship, quite yet?

Over the last day or 3, there has been a lot of chatter about the fact that the Blazers are winning close games against bad opponents and somehow this equates to them not being ready for the playoffs. While this may be true, I think we need to put this in perspective and realize it is not unusual and that we are actually faring better than many of the other teams we have been battling with. All of these have happened in the last 10 days or so (just in Western Conf)

Warriors loose at HOME to the Nugs.
Warriors lose at home to the Knicks
Rockets loose at Denver and need a miracle comeback to beat them at home
Phoenix get blown out by Lakers
Mavs need buzzer beater to beat Kings in Sac and then are a game tying 3 away from going to OT against the Kings in Dallas
Griz get blown out at Minny
The Clipps (Who had a chance till last night to catch OKC) loosing at NO

So I guess we should not fall into the same trap we accuse the Blazers of falling into. Actually, since the Orlando loss, only the the Blazers, Mav and Thunder (of the top 9 in the west) have beaten all the non playoff teams they have faced (Spurs got whacked by Minny). Just because a team isnt going to the playoffs doesnt mean they arent dangerous and playing free and loose is sometimes easier when you have nothing to loose. While the Phoenix loss hurt, we should be giving praise to the Blazers for not only beating the teams they should (sub 500 on the road) but executing enough down the stretch to win the close games, our competition hasnt been nearly as fortunate
