Home Court Advantage

UPDATE: New records needed for home court advantage as of Saturday.

Portland: 5-0

Houston: 3-4

For Portland to receive home court advantage in the first round, this is what will need to happen. (this is strictly a look at the Blazers and the Rockets, there are other circumstances that could disrupt this, but those seems much less likely.)

If we went 7-0 the rest of the way, we would end up with a final record of 55-27. This means Houston would need to finish with a record of 54-28 (if records were tied Houston would win the tie-breaker...)

To achieve those records, we would need an incredible run of 7-0, which while doable, is unlikely due to our last two games against GSW and LAC.

Portland's schedule going forward (7 games):

@ Los Angeles Lakers W

vs Phoenix L

vs New Orleans

vs Sacramento

@ Utah

vs Golden State

vs Los Angeles Clippers

Houston would need to go .500 the rest of the way to achieve their record of 54-28, which seems unlikely due to playing only two games against teams better than them, OKC and SAS.

Houston's schedule going forward (10 games):

@ Brooklyn L

vs Toronto L

vs Oklahoma City W

@ Denver

@ Los Angeles

@ Denver

vs Minnesota

vs New Orleans

@ San Antonio

@ New Orleans

It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out, and while it is looking more and more unlikely at this point, it's still possible for us to get home court.

Rip City baby!
