Lob for the win... why, oh why?

I have not seen anyone discuss the reason why we tried for an ally-oop pass to Liilard with 8 seconds left in regulation last night. Why would Stotts draw that play up when we needed to use the whole 8 seconds? If we make it, we give the Rockets another opportunity.

I know that Stotts has taken a lot of the blame for the end of game play calls as of late, but this one takes the cake. Really?

I also would like to see him go to Matthews or Batum if Lillard can not get a decent look. LA has been TERRIBLE down the stretch and I don't have any faith in his ability to produce down the stretch anymore.

Did I miss this conversation? If so, please direct me to the reasoning behind that play. Thanks!
