Comcast Sportnet recently reported that Mo Williams is planning on opting out of his player option next year, but hopes to sign with the blazers long term.
He says a lot of nice things about the blazers and don't get me wrong I appreciate what he brings to the table this year, but in my opinion Mo Williams is replaceable by CJ Mccollum and frees up a roster spot for a defensive big that we truly need.
His defense is absolutely horrible, he constantly fouls, very streaky shooter, and doesn't provide much size. I can all but guarantee that Mccollum would be able to at least produce at Mo Williams level (minus the assists though hopefully we will see an improvement in that category).
In Mo's defense (sounds weird to say that) he does bring a good up tempo for the bench and he is a decent assist man, but if we can use our MLE on a guy like Taj Gibson or Kosta Koufos and then pick up a defensive/assisting point guard for some of our youngins (One or two of Leonard, Robinson, Claver, Crabbe, Barton) we would be a contending team.
So would you want Mo back next year? Lemme know
