from grizzlybearblues, the search for a backup guard. (poll)

Reading the articles on SB nation, i found this article written over at grizzly bear blues. The grizzlies are desperate in need of a backup guard and for some shooting to space the floor for their two big men. The author gave 10 names that he would be willing to trade for. One of the guys, whom he listed, was our own Allen Crabbe. He has this to say,

"If you're an Unknown, you don't get a picture...Trading a legitimate starting big for a player that has registered less than 50 minutes of NBA game time seems insane. But the Grizzlies have history with Crabbe - nearly trading for him on draft night. Also working in Memphis' favor: Portland may think they are one defensive minded big from winning the NBA title. Adding Koufos to this team solves a lot of their problems. Portland has shown a willingness to give up picks for players, so maybe they wouldn't mind trading a 2016 1st rounder and the rights to swap in 2015 or 2017, and Crabbe for Koufos. I'd have a meeting on that deal."

If I'm portland and memphis calls me wanting to swap Koufos for Crabbe and the rights to swap a first round pick. I pull the trigger on this immediately! As Dave has mentioned, we are in the Acquire assets, build their value, while trying to win now. While we all love Crabbe, this is an offer we have to do. Crabbe isn't even activated anymore. He is on the suited up with claver on the sidelines now. While we all hate to give up a potential role player, Koufos could be the backup big we need to help solidify our backup big problem.
