We are currently ranked 23rd in defensive efficiency and last place in points in the paint.....yikes!
We need another defensive big and I couldn't think of a guy better than Kosta Koufos. Here's why
1. About to hit his prime
2. Extremely Cheap
3.Contract runs out in 2 years like everyone else on the blazers
4. Starter quality center as he shown in Denver and right now in memphis
5.He is attainable (at least I think he is)
Memphis has a plethora of bigs and it's been reported that as of January 12th Marc Gasol is already involved in full practices and should be out on the court in no time. Along with Gasol, Memphis sports a capable backup in Jon Leuer, a fringe allstar in Randolph and a fantastic backup in Ed davis. That is a ridiculous amount of talented bigs without even including Koufos. Having too many bigs is a good problem to have, but not when it comes at the expense of scoring. What Memphis needs is some young cheap talent that can shoot the ball.
I was thinking
Leonard + Crabbe for Koufos or Leonard + Wright for Koufos
Memphis wouldn't want more because they would be taking on salary and I think that is close to the best they can do for a 3 million center.
What do you think?
