Looking ahead past January, I see major concerns with the Blazers playoff readiness and position come April. Why so?
Well, from February 1-23, the Blazers play just 10 games - nice, easy schedule. But from there, the schedule gets increasingly tight and challenging, up to the end of the season. From February 25 to April 1, the Blazers play 20 games in 36 nights, including four back-to-backs, two 5-game road trips, and tough away games against conference & division rivals. Then to close the season in April, they play 3-4 playoff-bound teams in their last 7 games.
As much as I like this team and their chances, I'm not convinced they will make through March-April heading into the playoffs unscathed in W/L record, or health-wise. They are playing great ball right now, and they might come out of this time sitting pretty, but they just as easily might not. I suggest this stretch will either make them battle-worn or battle-ready, and will make/break their playoff position, as well as impact how deep their playoff run will be.
