Oregon Trail Blazers 1993 video?

Hey all,

Man, I love summer. From taking the dog to the river to walking through the sprinklers after mowing the lawn, I love this time of year, save for one thing: that few weeks between the free agency madness and training camp when all the fun NBA/Blazers gossip slows down, Dave and Ben take a break and we all start running out of things to talk about.

That said, I think this is the perfect time to ask this question to fellow BEdgers that I've been thinking about for a while.

Back in 1993 when I was but a wee-lad, card-carrying member of the Clyde The Glide fan club and too small to fit even the smallest pair of Avias; Oregon (and the rest of the country) was celebrating the sesquicentennial (150-Year-Anniversary) of the Oregon Trail. It was pretty cool for me because I grew up (and still reside) in Pendleton, Oregon, right along the home-stretch of the Oregon Trail. In fact, in the Blue Mountains just outside of town there are some places where you can still see the wheel-ruts carved by two decades of wagon trains. There were lots of cool commemorative things happening and everything seemed to pass through Pendleton.

The Trail Blazers, whose namesake comes from the famed Western migration, joined in the fun by shooting a really awesome video out here that served as their broadcast intro (with the always awesome "Blazing Trumpets" theme song) for the '93-'94 season. It was pretty dope! I vaguely remember Kersey and Porter dressed-up as pioneers up in the Blues. My uncle was even in it! My family and I are Cayuse Indians (well, really I'm more of a mutt) and my uncle was part of a group of Native horsemen who talk to the Blazers, nodding their heads stoically, and pointing off in the distance as if offering directions to the pioneers. (Uncle Ken is also an old-school Blazers fan so it was a pretty awesome experience for him, too!)

Anyway, I haven't seen this video in twenty years (Oh my god I can't believe that was twenty years ago!) We used to have it recorded on a VHS tape but who knows what ever became of it. I've searched the web a few times over the last couple years to see if I could find it, or really anything about it but I've come up with nothing. I'd love to see it again or even just pictures from it. Does anyone else remember this? Even better, does anyone have a copy of this they could upload to You Tube or something? That would be so cool. Do you work for the Trail Blazers? Have access to the archives? I'll try tweeting this to Sarah and Casey, maybe they know how to find it.

Also, 2013 is the 170-year anniversary of the Blazing of the Oregon Trail. How cool would it be to get Dame, LaMarcus, Nic, Myers, et al dressed up in cowboy hats and bandannas, riding horses up in the Blues...? I'm sure they all played the computer game as kids!

Anyway, thanks for reading! Go TRAIL Blazers!
