I haven't done this in a long time, I hear it's like riding a bike. Are secret messages still cool?
At the risk of delving too far into the personal, my Grandfather passed on the 4th of July. He was 92. If anyone offers their condolences, I will fight them. He lived a long, full life, and his shedding of this mortal coil came as a relief both to his family and himself.
Instead, I want your old people* anecdotes and war stories.
Since it's my post, I'll start. My favorite short tale from my Grandfather, was how he, a man large enough at the to earn all-state honors as an offensive lineman in high school football in the South, was able to crawl, slide and wedge himself into the rear gunner position of a B-52 during WWII.** It wasn't easy, and it apparently involved a lot of grunting and a little bit of a running start.
Everyone has little story bits like this, time to share***
**To my knowledge, he never saw combat, or at least he never talked about it if he did.
