The Blazer organization should explore every option available to improve the team and give it a more viable option to become considerably more competitive. Here's a realistic trade scenario that might accomplish just that (not particularly in this order:)
1: Sign JJ Hickson to the tune of $7-8 per season - don't write this guy off just yet - he played well for us over the last 1+ seasons and has proven to be a quality hustle / character team member.
2: Trade LMA for Joakim Noah or Javale McVee: Noah would be an amazing fit and I think LMA would be a excellent incentive for the Bulls to give him up. McVee can do most anything if his head is into the game and Denver may have to throw in 1-2 reserves, but LMA would make sense for their team. If neither trade works out, then we could explosre a trade for DeAndre Jordan
3: Use remaining cap space (about 5-7 million) to sign JJ Redick or Tony Allen
4: Sign Jermaine O'Neil for about $2M per season (Jermaine's main job would be to develop Leonard and to serve as back-up center if Noah swings over to PF. In the McVee trade scenario, O'Neil can also provide guidance there.
We may have to trade/waive/resign/adjust some reserve players to make the cap and to fill roles.
C: Noah or McVee / Leonard / O'Neill
PF: Hickson / Freeland
SG: Redick or Allen / Mathews/Barton
PG: Lillard / Maynor
Another scenario could also work out by trading LMA for a star SG, and signing Ask, Gortat, or Splitter as a solid role playing center.
