Tom Sheen of the Daily Mail has a lengthy feature piece with Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard. The interview was conducted when Lillard was recently in Italy for an NBA event and the conversation includes the 2013 Rookie of the Year's pick in the Finals as well as a few thoughts on the Blazers' 2012-13 season.
"I think the Heat will beat the Spurs in the Finals, 4-2," said the 22-year-old speaking to Sportsmail from Udine, Italy, where he was attending the NBA Schools Cup Finals.
"I think it will be tough. The way you beat Miami is by going inside, you've got to be bigger than them to have that advantage and I don't think the Spurs are that much bigger, so I think they'll have a tough time."
"I think I can be an elite point guard in the league, I do think I can be an MVP in the league, I think I just need to keep getting better. I don't think its one thing I can do to make myself that type of player, I think I need to keep improving every part of my game, and keep raising the level of my game until I can get to that point. But I think how far I can take my team has something to do with it too, and as long as I;m getting better I think I can work towards that.
"I think as a team we need to improve defensively, approach games with more focus. We had a lot of games this past season where we came and were ready to play and played really well. And some where we weren't into it like we were at other times and it came back to bite us at the end of the season."
