Trying to move the needle...

First off let me say that I am a long time reader and first time poster. Rip me to shreds if you so please, I can take it.

Everyone and their mother has been throwing out trade LA posts. I don't really agree with the notion of trading our only All-Star and a guy who is night in and night out one of the best in the league at what he does. BUT, I do believe he is also our biggest trade asset, and moving him could either make us or break us. I think that if we are going to trade him(I don't want to), we have to get better in the process. Now, this is probably an impossible task and most likely one that NO will not pull off, but here is my proposal IF we do this. I only shortly glanced at next year's salaries for these teams so the salaries probably won't work, but its the general concept that I think we should be shooting for.

Portland gives:

LA, Wesley Matthews, #10 pick

Sacramento gives:

DeMarcus Cousins, Tyreke Evans(sign and trade), #7 pick

I believe that this instantly moves the needle and makes us a threat at a position we haven't been a threat at in years. To fill the PF hole we can go get somebody like Paul Millsap, or retain Hickson. We obviously need to fill some defense down low so maybe a PF that is defensive minded. I think this would replace the offense from LA, and give us a slasher in Reke who could open our offense even more.

Our team would look like:

Lillard/Maynor

Evans/McCollum/Barton

Batum/Claver

Millsap/Hickson

Cousins/Leonard/Jermaine O'Neil

The bench needs a lot of help, maybe get Jermaine to come back on a Vet Exception, draft CJ McCollum, and fill the rest in with role players. I think this moves the needle and gives us a very big contention window. What do you think? Let me know!
