Houston gets a lottery pick this year and one from last year. In McCollum they get one of the best outside shooting players in this year's draft, something they should want to build around Howard, plus an athletic big who can backup Howard - both young players with favorable contracts and upside. They also clear another $4 pr $5 million freed up to go after another veteran player.
The Blazers use up their cap space to get their center, and by keeping Matthews, have a strong starting five. With the addition of TRob, they have a strong and athletic big coming off the bench - an improvement from last year. Sign Maynor and J O'Neal using their exception and vet minimums, and the Blazers now have a bench of Maynor, Claver, TRob, O'Neal and let Crabbe or Barton fight over the backup SG. Also better than last year.
