Hey all, new to fanpost, but had this thought and had to share it.
Firstly, I, by no means, believe we should be offloading LaMarcus, but if it makes us better overall, or opens up the distinct possibility to do so, we should be obliged to take a look. I know all of this LMA trade request/unhappiness is blowing way out of proportion, but it got me to think what he could return.
My thought, see if Brooklyn would be interested in an Aldridge for Brook Lopez straight swap. Lopez would provide us with a young All-Star Centre who can play the pick'n'roll whilst also being able to respectably protect the rim (admittedly a few for rebounds wouldn't hurt his case, but see my follow up thought below).
Should we be successful with the above trade, i'd say we should then go hard after Josh Smith to fill the PF void left by LMA's departure. A strong, defensively minded PF who can run the floor and finish with the best of them would be ridiculous along side Lillard, McCollum and Batum. His defensive prowess would also help cover Brooks lower than average rebounding numbers for a starting Centre.
Our cap room might be tight, but if we maybe look at moving Wes Matthews for some future picks, we could open up enough space to make an offer to Josh to get him on board.
Like i said, i don't want to simply offload LMA, but if we can do the above, i have no doubt we come out better in the end.
