Duin: A Brief History Of Jack Ramsay

The Oregonian's Steve Duin wrote a fun piece on former Blazer head coach Jack Ramsay, as we approach the anniversary of the 1977 championship. For folks who enjoy history, this is a must read: And I still remember the look on Ramsay's face in the locker room pre-game at Boston Garden when, anticipating a blow-out Celtic win, I asked what "Celtic Pride" meant to him. "It doesn't mean anything to me," Ramsay said. "You didn't hear anything about 'Celtic Pride' when they had Sidney Wicks and Curtis Rowe and they were only winning 32 games a year." When I returned sheepishly to the locker room after the Blazers' 121-103 victory, Ramsay couldn't disguise his glee. "See," he said, "that doesn't mean (bleep)."
