Another Off-season plan. . .

A million different trade ideas and off season plans have been thrown out there for awhile now, so here is my take.

First: Trade Batum, Barton and #40 to Atlanta for Jeff Teague and #17. This gives us great depth in the backcourt which we badly need, while giving us the ability to add another asset in the first round. I love Batum but I feel like he isn't going to get much better and just doesn't have a killer instinct. Atlanta has the ability to absorb salary in this trade and gets a young, blue chip player in Batum.

Second: Trade #10 and Freeland to Phoenix for Marcin Gortat.

Third: Draft BPA at #17. For this scenario I'm going to assume we take Shabazz Muhammad. I think he could fall this far, Chad Ford has him going at 16 to the Celtics in his Mock Draft 4.0. At #39 we draft PF Trevor Mbakwe and #45 we take SG Archie Goodwin.

Finally: in Free Agency after the above trades we will have about $14 million in cap room. I didn't do the exact math but we send out Batum (11), Barton (.5), and Freeland (3). And get back Teague (3), Gortat (8) and our draft picks. I rounded for nicer numbers. So now, we sign Andre Iguodala for 3 years-33 Million and Martell Webster for 3 years-9 million. Then pick up Jermaine O'Neal for the vet minimum.

This gives us a roster of:

Lillard/Teague

Wes/Martell

Iguodala/Shabazz

Aldridge/O'Neal

Gortat/Leonard

I think this team gets us into the 2nd round of the playoffs next year with the possibility to grow and fill out the bench in the coming seasons. Much deeper than last year. Although, I have no idea if this is even remotely possible. Thoughts/Suggestions
