What made Danny Green Danny Green, and why I have had a change of heart re: LMA

Greetings from San Francisco,

I was having a conversation this morning with a friend named Jim. We were talking about D. Wade vs Danny Green. I made the comment that Danny Green is only the player he is today because of the unique context of Spurs. You don't get Danny Green without that context unless you are willing to pay a pretty penny for a player who is already developed and accomplished...like D. Wade...and of course what he gets paid is what you would be paying for him.

So after the obligatory 5 minute conversation about how amazing and unique the spurs are, I started thinking about my stand on the future of LMA with the Blazers.

Many of you will recognize me as one of the voices in favor of moving him soon to 'rebuild', etc. Well today, I had a change of heart. What LMA represents is the culture of our future. We can't let that go easily. We may never win a championship with him, but he is a high character guy who is also an All Star. You can't beat that.

It is the culture that creates a Danny Green and, unless you are King James in collaboration, it is Danny Greens that make champion teams.

Happy Sunday!
