Hey guys, first fanpost here. I hope you enjoy it!
I'll dip my toe in to the advances statistics discussios from time to time and I uaually come out feeling kind of befuddled and confused. Mostly I like to keep things on a simple observational level. After watching this video on the Warriors organization it got me thinking. Don't we have one of the nerdiest/richest owners in sports? What does this, if anything, mean for the Blazers and NBA as a whole?
Ok, now for the discussion part. After watching the above video what are your impressions? Is this a viable route for making REAL player, coaching, and administrative decisions? Is there a coach out there willing to buy into the information and let go of using his "gut feeling"? SHOULD a coach be willing to do such a thing? Do you think a team could be successful relying heavily on this approach to basketball? Would this work in small markets? What about big markets? Does this information acutally give any kind of demonstrable advantage? Or is it just another technological exploit to spend some money on? It seems to me that in a league like the NBA, any advantage that small market team like Portland should be explored and I have to say, this stuff is intriguing
Donate your 2 cents below in the comments. I would love to hear your take on the Warriors efforts and if you think the Blazers should be persuing similar areas.
