I'm excited for the Tourney so I started thinking about who I would like the Blazer's to draft. This is what I came up with.
*Assuming we stand pat at the 12th pick
Round 1:
Pick 12 - Gary Harris, SG Michigan St.: This is a tough pick because the 12th pick kinda puts us on the cusp of picking someone who can be a starter or a nice bench player who can develop into a starter. In this case I think we stash for the bench. Harris could play 15-20 minutes off the bench and develop into a great role player like Nic has become. He is strong and physical guard. He has a great motor and is always slashing and can finish at the rim really well.
*I also wouldn't mind trading down for something and stashing Rudy Gobert from France.
Round 2
Pick 39 - Doug McDermott, PF Crieghton: I think most see him as a 2nd rounder. I see him replacing Luke Babbitt, but the nice thing about McDermott is the fact he is used to playing the stretch 4 so it wouldn't be a big change for him. I love him becuase he is so smart, he is gritty and can gaurd the 3 and 4 and he can light it up! He shot 56% from the field on a little over 14 shots a game, nearly 50% from beyond the arc and he pulls down about 8 board a game. He isn't a one year wonder either, he has been this consistent since he was a frosh.
Pick 49 - Richard Howell, PF NC State: This pick could go a couple ways depending on FA. If we don't keep Maynor, I wouldn't mind Aaron Craft. But as is, I like Howell. A little undersized at 6-8, but big, physical and STRONG at 260 lbs. He is a fantastic rebounder and a good defensive player. I see him as a poor mans Kenneth Faried.
