I know center is the position that everyone has identified as our biggest need, but a reserve guard who can play both positions is another need that's glaring and Shumpert is the perfect player to fill this position. He has size, handles, defense, shooting and is exactly the kind of upside guy that could become a major player. There are few stars to choose from in the current nba and Shumpert might not be there, but he has all of the abilities one needs to get there.I don't think we have a chance at any A list talent this summer so why not try and build one. If you were trying to create the perfect combo guard he would end up looking a lot like Shumpert ( with a different hair cut) The skills are there, the physical tools are there, he just needs the right environment to grow and I think that could be Portland.
