Has the NBA figured out Free Throw Guy?

Ok, we all remember the story from a couple of years ago documenting Free Throw guys affect on oppenent free throw percentage (about a 2% drop compared to expected as I recall). However, what I have noticed this year is that almost all the teams who have come to the MC this year have decided to go at the Free Throw Guy end of the court in the first half (meaning their bench is on the offensive side of the court for the 2nd half). This is a stark departure to the norm where most visiting teams want to have the bench (hence coach) on the defensive end in crunch time. Before, only the spurs and the Jazz (under sloan) routinely did the opposite, but it seems this year everyone is. Any thoughts as to why? Is it the fear of free throw guy? Who knows, but curious if anyone else has noticed the trend and have any great theories
