After watching our hot start this season and watching how we get thrashed at times by opposing centers I began to look at other teams with a dominant big man who weren't doing so hot. Marc Gasol seems like our only chance of a real upgrade in our starting line up. Unless of course we are able to get Chandler or Asik cheap. The whole premise of this trade is that Memphis realizes that they are only getting older at this point and are looking to cash in on their assets now rather then letting them walk in 2015. I think with the addition of Gasol it puts us in place for a championship within the next five years.
This is my dream trade scenario in which we get our missing third piece.
Portland sends out- Lopez, Leonard, Mccollum, TRob, Wright, Freeland.
Portland receives- Marc Gasol, Prince, and Miles Plumlee
Memphis sends out- Zbo, Marc Gasol, and Prince
Memphis receives- Lopez, Leonard, McCollum, Pau Gasol, and TRob
Fakers send out- Pau Gasol
Fakers receive- Zbo
Suns send out- Miles Plumlee
Suns receive- Freeland and Wright
Why Portland does this- Marc Gasol and Plumlee would be an awesome center tandem for the Blazers and Prince would be amazing coming off the bench behind Batum.
Why Memphis does this- With Marc Gasol's injury it is becoming more apparent that it will be very difficult for them to make the playoffs let alone then being anything more then a one and done. Acquiring Young talent and an expiring contract in Pau would put Memphis in a position for a quick rebuild.
Why the Fakers do this- As has already been reported in the media the Fakers have been interested in acquiring Zbo. Zbo is an upgrade over Pau Gasol and will be expiring in two years.
Why the Suns do this- The Suns are failing at tanking and something needs to be done. Plumlee has been awesome starting for Phoenix and a trade would clear more room up for Alex Len to develop and grow. Freeland can back up Len and Wright could start at SF, or if Phoenix doesn't want Wright he could be sent to a fifth team for a second or a player which Phoenix wants.
