A lot of people (myself included) have been banging on that Asik drum. With good reason. Portland's unbelievably bad luck at the center position is undeniable. Robin Lopez has been everything that the team has needed, but insurance is needed. Especially during the playoffs where the physical toll on Lopez and LMA will require experienced, playoff caliber backups to ease the beatings down low.
If the Blazers front office is not able to find a way to bring in Asik, I have 2 names that could provide us what we need for the playoffs; Anderson Varejao and Zaza Pachulia. Either one of these 2 could be had without us giving up our rotation. Neil Olshey is smart enough to make it happen knowing that a frontcourt rotation featuring LMA-ROLO-FREELAND-VAREJAO/PACHULIA has the potential to be Chicago Bullsesque. A Bulls style defense with our offense equals win now! And we could probably do it while still keeping either T-ROB or MEYERS as youth projects. Tell me what you think fans.
