Portland Trail Blazers Week Three NBA Power Rankings

Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

Here's how the Portland Trail Blazers stack up in the various NBA power rankings after week 3 of the 2013-14 season.

The Portland Trail Blazers are 8-2 on the season after enjoying a 4-0 week that included wins over the Detroit Pistons, Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors.

Here's how the Blazers stack up in the various NBA power rankings following week three of the 2013-14 season. In last week's week two rankings, the Blazers ranged from No. 7 to No. 12. This week, Portland is ranked between No. 4 and No. 10, rising on just about every set of Power Rankings.

No. 7 (Last week: 12)Marc Stein, ESPN.com

Beating the Spurs early on, as they often do at home, failed to cause much of a stir, but I'd say that the Blazers and their fortified bench have everyone's attention now after six straight wins and four of them outside of Portland from the gang that closed out 2012-13 on a 4-19 slide in road games.

No. 6 (Last week: 11)Marc Spears, Yahoo! Sports

The surprising Blazers have won six straight. Damian Lillard faces the Bulls' Derrick Rose for the first time Friday.

No. 7 (Last week: 10)Matt Dollinger, SI.com

Offseason additions Mo Williams, Dorell Wright and Thomas Robinson are lifting a Blazers bench that averaged only 18.5 points per game last season. Portland beat Toronto in overtime Sunday to record its first six-game winning streak since February 2011.

No. 8 (Last week: 7)Matt Moore, CBSSports.com

Yogurt schedule and I don't care. But they're so consistent from possession to possession they deserve some hype.

No. 4 (Last week: 9)Kurt Helin, Pro Basketball Talk

Winners of six in a row, they are doing it with the third best offense in the NBA - they are hitting their shots and being a force on the offensive glass. But they may be leaning a little too heavily on their starters right now.

No. 6 (Last week: 9)John Schuhmann, NBA.com

The Blazers have won six straight games, have the second-best record in the West and are the only team to beat the Spurs. Five guys in the rotation have shot better than 50 percent during the streak and their offense has looked rather Spurs-esque at times. They've also held the six opponents under a point per possession. This week's coast-to-coast schedule will be a test of their depth.

No. 10 (Last week: 11)David Aldridge, NBA.com

Blazers' six-game win streak after overtime victory Sunday in Toronto is the team's longest in almost two years.

No. 6 (Last week: 10)Jason Patt, SB Nation

The Blazers capped off a perfect 4-0 week with an overtime victory over the Toronto Raptors. Portland has won six games in a row to move to second in the West, although I need to see a little more before putting them in the top five.

Further comment will be provided after they play the Bulls and Warriors on Friday and Saturday.

No. 8: Hollinger Power Rankings

Hollinger Statistical Rankings...

  • Offensive Efficiency: No. 3
  • Defensive Efficiency: No. 19
  • Rebound Rate: No. 5
  • Pace: No. 18
