I'm pretty shocked, folks. Antionio Harvey has been watching sideline in the Blazers practices the first few days and he insists that the defense has improved dramatically and that the players are ALL talking about the playoffs. He says that he is convinced this team can...wait for it...be a sixth or seventh seed this year.
That's very impressive, folks. Get on the bandwagon early. Time to start the meme. Blazers are going to make a little noise this year. Maybe not a roar, but they are going to be heard.
When you hear Sideshow Rob saying that, during a recent practice, when players were not putting enough energy on the court, it was T-Rob and Barton who were insisting players step it up...That's something. Second year dudes don't do that. They are usually the object of the complaints and ire of the veterans in terms of stepping up the pace and effort.
If you have the young fellas on board with that kind of competitive fire and drive to improve, Harvey may be right. That's a team with blossoming confidence.
I saw the same thing in camp from the Denver Broncos this year. Players were not satisfied with anything less than full effort and execution. And you see how that is playing out.
