I noticed in September that some Fanposts for Blazer's Edge Fantasy Leagues filled up fast so I decided to start my own... The Rose Garden of Eden. This league is free to join and will include prizes donated by me. 1st prize - Clyde Drexler autographed Nike shoe, 2nd and 3rd prizes TBD. You can pick up the prizes for free in Portland or have them sent to you for free in the USA/Puerto Rico. Anybody outside USA/Puerto Rico will have the option of paying for shipping to receive their prize. All you need to join is to provide your email in this thread and an ESPN profile which only requires a valid email. If you aren't keen on providing your email publicly then I would suggest creating another email you don't care about. Also I will delete this Fanpost after the draft.
RULES and other important info:
- The league will consist of 16 teams using standard rotisserie scoring structure. The draft will take place on Sunday, Oct. 27th, 9:30pm EST. The draft will be a "snake" draft and order will be determined 1 hour before draft. If you miss the draft your player will be drafted for you based on ESPN ranking or your own personal ranking. I picked this date so we can get a better estimate on injured players and be prepared for the inevitable pre-season injuries that have yet to occur.
- I added one extra category of three point %. I've always thought this was more appropriate then using three pointers made. To appease the traditionalists I use both. I tried this last season and I liked the results. My reasoning is that a player that shoots 1/5 from 3 pt. line during a game is probably hurting his team more then helping his team.
- I made the trade deadline March 26th. 9/16 votes will veto a trade. As league manager and dictator I will personally squash ridiculously lop sided trades that I suspect are collusion. Giving up at the end and throwing your players up on waiver wire is acceptable. Not paying attention to injuries and ignoring your team for 3+ weeks is unacceptable. Please don't join if you don't want to participate with an average level of interest.
- All ages and experience levels are welcome. There is a free ESPN hotline to answer questions. I tried it once and those guys are bro-tastic. I can answer most questions too. I will post front page League Manager links, photos, videos etc. There might be some cussing and drug/alcohol references. I try to keep it light with all discussion centered around basketball, NBA, and Portland. No politics or religion.
I'm only posting this invitation here, but if you know of other fans that want to join then by all means spread the word. If I can't round up 16 teams by Oct. 27th then I will reduce the league to however many teams there are by that day. It only takes 5-10 minutes a week to set your lineup. Player rankings and stats are very thorough to help you build a team. You can add your expert friend as co-manager to help out. Good luck suckas.
