How to get bench scoring without breaking up the core?

Stay connected for news and updates

The way I see it, we have a pretty decent team due to the fact that our starting five seems to really enjoy playing together. Their cohesiveness is the main ingredient (along with some 3 pointer luck) in the past couple of weeks that is pulling them through some of these close wins that they would have otherwise lost last year when there was so much inter-team squabbling. This being said, I would really rather not see them break up the mojo by trading someone like Hickson or Matthews, but the weakest spot all year has been bench production and I'm not sure how that is going to improve without a trade.

The schedule is obviously going to get tougher for the rest of the season. The way I see it, without improvement the mojo will eventually lose ground to the schedule which would likely drop us out of those last 2 or 3 playoff spots.

Any trade proposal would have to be based on a "need for need" scenario that probably would not involve starting players on other teams. What we need improvement on is our bench scoring. We don't have ONE bench player who is averaging over 5 points a night. That is a pretty ugly stat. What we have are some serviceable veterans (Jefferies, Price, Pavlovic), and some expiring contracts (Smith, E-Will, and Babbit). Bench scoring for Veterans/Expiring contracts, that's probably a pretty hard sell for Olshey.

So my question I guess would be are there ANY trades out there that would help us, without having to trade away the core?
