I am sure that all the readers on BE know how I feel about STOTTS and OLSHEY. I have been very critical of both but I am willing to be patient with OLSHEY'S plan. He is going to "try" and add some talent to the roster during the summer so I have no choice but wait and see if he can get the help that he promised LA he would add this summer.
I believe that HC STOTTS is playing with fire by playing the starters the amount of minutes he has so far and it's starting to look like there will be no relief because I don't believe that the BLAZERS will make any moves before the deadline. For starters minus the starting 5 the team does not really have any assets that another team would want. The core of this team is of course LA, BATUM and LILLARD. I believe that HICKSON should also be in that mix but I will leave him out because so many fans don't believe he should be part of the future which is insane in my opinion. Our big 3, the future of this franchise sit right now in the top 12 in total minutes played with NIC BATUM in the top 5. This is not a playoff team this year. At best if the team plays lights out the rest of the way the absolute best that we could finish would be 7th or 8th and that's really pushing it because the Lakers are going to start making a push very soon, they have entirely to much talent and you can finally see their team finally starting to gel. I don't like this draft class that will be available and if we finish in the top 12 and keep our pick, the team would be able to add another lottery pick to the roster but with the draft class being as weak as it is there is nothing to get to excited about. We owe the Bobcats a pick so we might as well get it over with this year. My problem so far with STOTTS is of course the miles he is putting on our big 3 and the lack of a set rotation. This team needs to find out what they have in FREELAND and LEONARD and they have got to get at a minimum 25-28 minutes every single night. Injuries have crippled this franchise in the past with Oden and Roy. I am not saying that the team should tank because none of that matters when dealing with the draft lottery because any team could win regardless of the number of ping pong balls.
There could be bench "answers" out there in a player like Allen Iverson who from reports has played very well in the Chinese League but it's the freakin' Chinese League I know. Iverson is 37 and he wants to get another shot at playing in the NBA and what could it hurt to give this future HOF a chance. It can't be no worse than bringing in Adam Morrison. I truly believe that a 37 year old Iverson is better than any bench player on this current roster. There is also players out there like a Delonte West who have played fairly well in the NBA. I know that Iverson will most likely never happen but the Mavericks have been trying to get Iverson to come and play for there NBADL team which will never happen but a player like West could come in right now and be a good scorer of the bench who could back-up both LILLARD and MATTHEWS. These are just random thoughts about the bench problem. Something needs to happen ASAP before one of our big 3 get's hurt and the team will be really in rebuild mold.
