It looks like time for a new-ish junk. I haven't done one in a while, so I thought I would see what I could come up with.
As you all know I will occasionally post music clips with little or no explaination ....just stuff I am listening to at home or work. TD will tell you that it is almost always in the classic rock genre (70-80s hair bands are a personal fav). While this is generally true, I will tell you that I have a pretty varied taste in music. A lot of that came from listening to top 40 radio radio growing up. In those days (especially growing up in a small town) there wasn't as many specialized music outlets. You typically had a choice of Pop, Country, and easy listening....and that was about it (unless you liked listening to farm reports). But on the plus side, Top 40 in those days had an amazing variety. In the 70's for instance, you had little bit of everything. On any given weekend the top 40 could include anything from Glam Rock (Queen,Bowie, or Sweet) to Piano Rock, (Billy Joel and Elton John) or a smooth west coast sound (Fleetwood Mac, Eagles) or Dance Music (Donna Summer and Bee Gees) or even Horror rock (Alice Cooper and Kiss). All spent significant time on the top 40 charts. At the time people were decrying the musical wasteland that the 70's had become (in their opinion) and how the music of the 60s was soo much better.
The thing that was tough is that in some ways the old hippies were right ...the 60s had The Beatles, Dylan and Hendrix. But the thing is, you don't have to be a pioneer to be fantastic. Sometimes it is ok to stand on the shoulders of Giants...to find a niche and fully explore it in a way that the Pioneers never could. Here is what I listened to ....
Queen - Somebody To Love (via QueenVEVO)
Billy Joel - Live 1982 - Scenes From An Italian Restaurant (via coolvideo76)
ELTON JOHN - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (TOTP 1973) (via nyrainbow)
Fleetwood Mac Rhiannon Live 1976 Stevie Nicks (via John Seger)
Donna Summer Last Dance (via rael1964)
Alice Cooper - I Never Cry (via PitGente)
Hope you all liked that
