I've seen alot of different trades put up and none of them make much sense from either the position of the players involved or the team's approach towards their season. I wanted to create a trade that utilized several teams that have been involved in rumors lately and see what we could create.
Trade: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=acyxodn
Teams: Blazers, Timberwolves, Suns, and Mavericks
Players: A BUNCH
Reasoning:
Blazers: Increases bench scoring potential, search for 6th man/backup pg, and focused towards long term growth.
Mavericks: Win the right now, right now, right now....
Suns: Replaces Kendall Marshall with a "more experienced" point guard with "potential" to succeed in new system. Sends Williams to the nba's mecca of knee-doctors. Three out of the four are expiring contracts to ease Suns in creating space for rebuild.
Timberwolves: Security at the center position for another season with a serviceable big. Removes Derrick Williams, who they hate to play, but it could be argued still has potential as a helpful piece on a roster. Jared Cunningham comes through with good knees.
Future:
Ultimately since I'm a Blazers fan I would be most concerned with what we could do looking forward. Since we are giving away and recieving expiring contracts then we could throw some money at E.Will and JJ in hopes to lure them back to a young, deep team(probably only getting a hungry Elliot back since JJ could land big bucks in offseason). In addition we could sign Pekovic to a large contract to help LA out down low, but to continue Meyer's development. There is a gamble with Marshall's contract but we could groom him as defense specialist and have Elliot or Barton main ball handler in second unit (Harden/Sefolosha).
I live in Spain right now so it's been fun to keep track of things a bit while I'm going to school. Enjoy!
