I've been a huge B Roy fan before his trail blazers days. When he was junior at UW and looking at his stat line thinking, I know this is Nate Robinson's team, but Roy might be the most complete player in all of college basketball. To his incredible senior year, back to back buzzer beating threes against Arizona, Pac 10 player of the year, to the heartbreak game against UConn. Then teaming up with Mr. Sonic(Nate McMillan) and the best high school player I've ever seen live, Martell Webster. His rookie of the year, than back to back All Star Years.
Listen it's always fun to see a favorite player do great, but it's even better when you know that player is great before everyone else realizes that. That is my relationship to B Roy. I knew he was going to be great and then bam, he was. I watched every box score, every percentage. On youtube, checked the clip out. On a nba.com highlight, checked it out.
I grew up a Sonics fan so my view point is going to be a little different than the average Bedger. I loved the Sonics and I love Seattle. When they went away Portland was an easy turn. Mr. Sonic, Martell, and my favorite NCAA player. It was a done deal. Maybe that's why I root for Brandon. I don't care if it hurts the Blazers if he drops 50 on them(please please please score 50 at some point this season). I want to see him succeed. I want him to destroy everyone is his path like he use to. I know it's not easy losing something, but as a person, I find Roy awesome. Struggled to get into UW, but worked at. Made it to the NBA only to get his career cut way to short.
There seems to be a lot of angry BEdge fans here, but I don't care. I hope Brandon is an All Star again because in the NBA, there is nothing that makes me happier than seeing him play.
